On Friday, students made pinwheels to play with in the spring winds. 

James from ArtSEL was at the Murray site last week, teaching shadow puppetry to the Forest Kindergarten group!

A period of exponential growth, risk-taking, and confidence building, kinder had swim lessons twice a week for five weeks in Jan/Feb. We're so thankful for the collaboration with the amazing Sita at Healthsport and her crew of swim teachers, as well as kinder parents and of course, Kinsley and Trevor for being the patient and steadfast guides in the water!

Laurel Tree staff attended a wonderful Creative Education Symposium on Saturday. We learned puppetry techniques, incorporation of storytelling and movement into other subjects, honoring local Native art practices and more. Several teachers had the chance to collaborate and paint a mural that was designed by students at Redwood Coast Montessori. We were excited to learn about the process. We're excited to bring collaborative murals and other new ArtSEL teachings to Laurel Tree.

Becca's class looked at kiwis under the microscope as part of Edible Education, and the Local Worm Guy who picks up our compost came by and taught a lesson in vermiculture.

The Marine Biology Camping Trip is open to 7th-12th grade students! Due date for getting your deposit in is March 28th!

A reminder to us all:
*Students are walking and biking these roads.
*Many families are driving kids to school on Foster and Janes.
*The visibility at the corner of Foster and Janes is very poor.
*Our neighbors appreciate considerate driving.  They've seen a big increase in traffic since our school arrived.
*The roads are rough and full of potholes.  You can damage your car going too fast. 
*No amount of being late is worth risking someone's life.
